As Valentine’s Day approaches, you may be reminded of the past pain of a previous relationship or the loneliness of being single. I know that it can be difficult to carry on with life when the world makes you feel like a relationship will make your life “complete.”
In the midst of this pain, I want to share some reminders to hopefully encourage you during this possibly difficult time: ➊ Although the world tried to convince us that relationships will bring fulfillment, eternal satisfaction can only be found in Christ. [John 6:35] ➋ God is the Healer of our hearts. If you offer up your heart to Him, He will put the broken pieces back together and He will bind up your wounds. [Psalm 147:3] 💔 ➡️ ❤️ ➌ Your pain has a purpose. [James 1:2-4, 1 Peter 1:6-7] God may be allowing you to experience heartbreak because He wants to lead you to a better person. He may be using your season of singleness to bring you closer to Him. Although you may not understand how God is working in your life, you can trust that the Lord knows the desires of your heart [Psalm 37:4] and that He is working everything out for your good. [Romans 8:28] ➍ There is a time for everything. [Ecclesiastes 3:1-8] ➎ You are not alone. [Deuteronomy 31:8] The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and He saves the crushed in spirit. [Psalm 34:18] ➏ Jesus is your Friend, and He will never turn away from you if you come to Him. [John 6:37] ➐ You do not have to be afraid to share your honest feelings with the Lord, because He knows all things and He cares for you. [1 Peter 5:7] He is here to comfort you.
